Mottaret is a very friendly car free village that is a short walk from the apartment, here are some local tips and hints
Shops
Huit a Huit - 200 metre walk from the apartment and offers most essentials along with fresh baked goods in the morning.
Although called 8 to 8 it is open 7:30 - 12:30 and 16:30 - 20:00
Sherpa - Mottaret centre, larger with a wider selection than the Huit a Huit including their own bakery and well stocked butchers counter.
Super U - In Moutier on the road up to Mottaret. A good place to stop off at the begininng of your holiday, cheaper than the resort shops and a wide selection of wines, cheeses, veg and meat counters.
Indoor
Bowling - Six lanes are in the Olympic Centre in Meribel
Cinema - In the Tourist Info office in Mottaret offers French and English (look for the V.O.S.T. symbol) movies.
Ice Skating - The Olympic Ice rink in Meribel Centre has figuree skating hire and lessons.
Swimming Pool - The Olympic Centre has a 25m swimming pool with sauna, jacuzzi and whirlpool.
Wellness Centre - New addition to the Olympic Centre with lots to offer
The apartment has a selection of DVD's and Games
Internet
The apartment has free high speed broadband Wifi.
If you don't have your pc with you internet access is available in the Mottaret tourist office for a small charge.
Child Care
All services book up very quickly in half term, contact them as early as possible
Snow Angel Nannies - They will do snow activities with the kids, meet you on the hill for a hot chocolate and really immerse your little ones on what a fun ski holiday can be.

ESF Infants Club - 18 month to 3 year old kids club in Meribel Olympic centre
ESF Mottaret Kids Club - Excellent fun for 3-5 year old Children and only 250 metres from the apartment opposite the Brizolee restaraunt.
Has large, snow-covered playgrounds equipped with "magic carpet" surface-lifts, inflatable playground characters and skiing merry-go-rounds as well as an indoor play area. Kids are split into age groups: 3 years olds (P'tits Loups "little wolves"), 4 year olds (Ourson "Teddy Bears") and 5 year olds (flocons "snowflakes").

Annexe - nice slightly upscale bar with sports on tele and happy hour from 4:30 - 6:00
Rastro - my "local" a pub like atmosphere, family owned by local world cup telemark skiers
Downtown Bar - recently refurbished, this French cellar bar is right in the centre below "Olympic Skis". With occasional live music it is a very popular bar for the locals.
